Finally Something for Free: iPhone Apps that Won't Cost You a Dime

By Herbert Hunke

Plenty of iPhone apps seek to entertain, organize or give us a boost of technology, but many of the good ones will cost you, if only a few dollars. When you consider that there are thousands of iPhone apps available, those few dollars can easily add up to eat a big portion of your bank account. The unspoken truth, however, is that many of these iPhone apps are completely free. Though they may not revolutionize your music library, they may tell you where you're going or help organize your clutter schedule. These useful apps come free for the taking.

Flashlight - Flashlights are always useful, and this iPhone app turns your phone into one. It sends off bright illuminating colors to make it easier going down a dark stairwell, rooting through your car for that laundry money, or just checking out a map in the dark. Keep a light on that's actually your cell phone. It's one of the free iPhone apps that are actually worth keeping around.

iBear Timer - This iPhone app keep track of the exact time that has elapsed after an important event, as well as the time that remains before a big event happens. Great for planning or just a conversation piece to know down to the minute how long it's been since you took your final exam. This is one of the iPhone apps that are useful as well as fun. Use it to keep track of meetings or just for knowing how long you've got until the weekend.

If Found Please - iPhones have a tendency to walk away. This one helps them come back. This simple but useful iPhone app displays customized information on your wallpaper, so you can set the phone to tell your whereabouts so that if you lose the phone, anybody who finds it knows where to send it. It works even if your phone is locked.

Lotto Shake - Want to play the Lotto but run out of number combination's? With this iPhone app, you just shake the phone for a random number combination. It works for the Daily Play, Thunderball, the UK Lotto and Euro Millions. If your iPhone number wins, there's no reason you have to share the winnings with your iPhone, but it might be nice if you took it out to dinner to show your thanks. iPhone apps need to feel appreciated.
