Information You Should Know About Your Iphone

By Leah Grace Ricafort

Are you thinking about purchasing an iphone but aren't familiar with how smart phones operate? Are you stuck in the past not up to date with all the new technology? Well, if that's the case then read on to learn about some nifty little tips and tricks that are so simple anyone can use when they get an iphone.

To disable your edge connection or 3G GRPS connection, press the setting button. Then tap general, network, and cellular data network. When you get to the field that asks for your APN username and password, put in a few words that will prevent your iPhone from giving providers the right values. Then restart your phone.

If you've gotten your iphone wet, refrain from turning it on. Use a towel to dry it, and then put it in a sealed plastic bag of dry, white rice. Let it sit overnight. If it's dry the next morning, turn it on, and you just may find it working again.

Would you like an easy way to take a picture of your phone's current screen? Try this! Press the home and sleep buttons at the same time, and wait for the sound of a camera clicking. Then, head over to your saved photos. You should see an image of your screen in the folder.

Do you want to extend your battery life? There are a few different things you can do to get the most out of your battery life. One thing you can do is turn down the brightness. Also, turn off any wireless radios when you are not using them. This can give you more battery life.

There are plenty of game applications to keep you entertained on the iphone. Some of the classic games such as Tetris and Bejewled have found their way to the iphone. If you need something to keep you entertained when you have downtime during work or in between classes then these games could be worthwhile downloads for you.

On your iPhone, it is possible to look at PDF files in your iBooks. When you are on a website with a PDF, you want to view or a mail message, all you need to do is tap and then hold either the PDF link or icon. Then, simply select "open in iBooks".

Take a screen shot on your iPhone. Do you want to capture a shot of your screen? You can quickly push down the Home button, and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time, and then release it. You should hear a camera sound. This will take a picture of whatever is on your screen, and it can be found in your picture file.

A great tip if you own an iphone is to start sending out emails straight from your iphone. The great thing about having the iphone is that you have access to the internet and you can easily access your email to send and receive messages so that you're always in the loop.

Do you need to send a link to a webpage or a picture to a friend? Open the page, touch the address bar, and you should be able to send this link as an email. Send emails to yourself if you want to access a specific link on another device.

If you have dropped your IPhone in water, use rice to try and dry it out and get it working again. Remove the battery and place the IPhone in a sealed container of dry, uncooked rice. Cover the phone completely with the rice and seal the container. Keep the phone in the rice for at least a day before trying to use it again.

Check out stocks with live updates straight to your phone. If you have to go on a family event, or step out the office for an extended period of time you can still keep track of your most important stocks. If you start to see a trend you can call in to your office and have them change your stocks around so that you aren't left coming up short.

To set restrictions on your phone, simply go to "General," and then "Restrictions." Put in a four number password that you can remember. You might want restrictions, particularly if you are a parent and want to restrict certain applications for your kids, and putting in this passcode will help you to do that.

Never let an idea slip your mind again. With the notes' application, you can take notes on your phone and make sure that the great ideas you have throughout the day are written somewhere. You can even email them to yourself to ensure that they are in a safe place.

If you're sending messages to friends who don't use iPhones themselves, remember that longer messages will get broken into 160-character texts. You can keep an eye on your messages' length by adding a character counter to iMessage. Just open the Settings menu and go to "character count" under "messages." With the counter enabled, you'll never have to worry about a message getting broken at an unfortunate point again!

If your emails start to pile up, then stop wasting time and deleting those messages one by one. It's rather simple to delete them all at once. By going to your inbox, simply click on the edit button and check all the emails you want to delete. Then simply hit the delete button, and they're all erased!

Having an iphone for the first time can be very confusing if you aren't use to these types of new phones. That is what's great about articles like these because they show you lots of nifty little tricks that are simple and will get all technology novices up to speed with this latest gadget.
