The Wifi Reports Review-Is Kindle DX the Wave of the Future?

By Faye Herl

Amazon has put together yet another version of its e-book reader and is worth looking at if you want to buy Kindle DX, a smart little reader in a light weight package. This smart little book unfortunately comes with a smart little price.

PDF support enables the reading of most formal business reports, and many free works of real literature. The Kindle DXs 10-inch screen makes it easier to handle the content like textbooks, whose pages contain heavy formatting and would at the very least, look incredibly bad on the smaller Kindle screens.

PDFs are great read with the Kindle DX. With a screen that you can use horizontally or vertically. Now don't plan on using this device to surf the web, but let's face it , this is a e-book reader not a place to do a Google search.

The $490 price tag does make you think twice about the Kindle DX. With the economy in the pits, it remains to be seen whether or not people will spring for the e-book reader. Yet, in the state of California, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger plans to have digital science and math textbooks to the state's secondary schools this fall.

The state is reviewing 20 free math and science e-books that will be available to secondary education teachers soon. The state will let the schools decide how to get the content to students. Possibilities range from printing to handing the students CD versions. This open source solution could save California millions.

The hefty price issue. Should the price come down, the Kindle DX may cause a revolutionary change in education. But if you are waiting to buy Kindle DX for personal use, now is as good of time as any.
