3 Forthcoming Features in Mobile Computing

By Travis Stephenson

The recent battles in mobile computing have seen the developments of some incredibly impressive features that have changed not only the way we think about our phone service, but also how we live our lives. GPS-rich features have made communication and travel more convenient than ever and information has never been more accessible. Current cell phone technology is currently as good as laptop technology was three years ago.

Following Your Pals Androids recently integrated a "Loco" application allowing users to locate friends, fathers, sisters, brothers, and more without phoning them. You can track them by simply pulling up your contact list and locating their GPS coordinates. Ever get lost in a mall or a stadium crowd? Imagine how much simpler it is to find your missing event-attendee, now.

Reminders Cellular programs can now act as real-time Post-It Notes. One program in particular will provide real-time reminders. Under this type of programming, GPS tech will prompt you, upon your parking at the supermarket, to remember that you need to buy a loaf of 12 grain bread.

Reminders Phone apps can act as hand-held, digital Post-It notes. One app will even provide reminders in real-time. This way, GPS technology will remind you, once you arrive at the mall or supermarket, that you need to buy light bulbs or a present for your wife's mother. This goes one big step beyond basic Palm Pilots or electronic calendars. This is almost as good as having a second person with you to make sure you don't forget anything!

Easy Unlocks Some cars now feature remote, keyless starts. Most times, that requires a dealer required fob, which can be a pain to reprogram or replace, if ever lost or broken. Your cell phone can now take on that role, allowing you to start and warm your car without even having to scrape on a cold morning. This is all thanks to Bluetooth technology.
