About iPhone

By Jerrica Effron

The release of a new iPhone tends to mean lines of eager customers waiting hopefully outside an electronic store to get their hands on the newest release. Now that tech junkies have happily purchased their new phones, many people have begun asking a new question. Which iPhone do I need? Looking at the features of the two models will help determine which phone will be enough.

Most people will have a one year warranty on their iPhone if it was purchased new. As long as any damage to your iPhone occurs within that year, you should not have to pay for any repairs. You could certainly make your life much easier by simply keeping track of your purchase date and the date your warranty runs out. There may be some damages not covered under the warranty, so make sure you check and fully understand whether your particular problem is covered.

Today, consumers expect high-end phones to be equipped with cameras that take stunning photos. For as expensive as the model was, the iPhone 3's camera was not up to par. The iPhone 4 boasts a 5 mega-pixel camera that can also capture HD videos. When attached to a wifi network, users can make video calls on their iPhone phone using this improved camera.

Apple has also catered to user demand for a lighter, slimmer model. The lighter, more portable feel is a plus for this model. While a slimmer phone is a definite plus, some are concerned about the impact it will have on reception and repairs.

Now, what makes the iPhone 4S different? The iPhone 4S has a processor that is much more powerful than that in the iPhone 4. With the improved, dual-core processor, the iPhone 4S will run more intense apps and software. Siri is one of the most obvious differences between these models; she acts as a personal assistant. Another improvement is the shift from a 5 mega-pixel camera in the iPhone 4 to the 8 mega-pixel camera in the iPhone 4S. Also, the integration of a second antenna allows for a more natural grip on the phone without interfering with the antenna.

Do these updates really mean you should retire your iPhone 4 in favor of the newer model? Is the question more about deciding to spend the extra money on the iPhone 4S over the cheaper iPhone 4? Is buying the iPhone 4S something to look into? If you're upgrading to a new smart phone, yes. The iPhone 4S is a powerful, sleek device that is readily available on a variety of services.

If you already have the iPhone4, should you rush out? There is no change in outward design of the phones. Both of these models share screen size and resolution. There is no change in the amount of RAM between the models. An update to the operating system that allows for impressive changes is the largest shift between the two phones. The iPhone 4 software is easily updated to match that of the iPhone 4S.
