Five Reasons An Iphone May Not Be For You

By Brian Jones

The iphone was released in 2007 and almost immediately was thrust into the public limelight. Whether you love it or hate it, everyone is aware of the iphone and everyone has an opinion on it.

The most striking feature of the iphone is it's design. The button-less screen and shiny chrome cover are normally enough to persuade people to part with their hard earned money. There is more to a phone than looks and this article looks at some of flaws of the iphone and some reasons why it may not be the best purchase for you.

1. The price! - Admittedly the price of all sizes of iphone have fallen since launch, they still remain one of the most expensive phones on the market today (apart from something encrusted with diamonds!). This is mainly due to the lower number of networks it's available on and therefore reduced competition.

2. Compatibility with Microsoft Exchange - This is a huge downside for business users of the iphone. The iphone is not fully compatible with Microsoft Exchange and as a result has to check the mail server to determine if there are any new emails, rather than having the emails automatically 'pushed' to it like it's Blackberry rival. This can cause frustrating delays when receiving emails.

3. Unchangeable battery - Unlike almost every mobile phone before it, it's not possible to change the battery of an iphone. This means that you can't take a spare fully charged battery away with and instead must constantly charge your phone is it is to work. The battery life is decent enough, but many people like the peace of mind of taking a spare battery away with them.

4. Touch screen keyboard - In case you hadn't realised, the iphone doesn't have any actual keys and is completely operated from the touch screen. It is still a QWERTY touch screen but takes a long while to get used to. For some, it will be impossible to master it.

5. Poor quality camera - For the money an iphone costs, the quality of the camera is particularly poor. It's only 2 megapixels, which when rivals are bringing out 5 megapixels is a poor show. The difference in picture quality is substantial and will be more than enough to put some potential customers off.
