IPhone 4 Pay As You Go Plans - Might Be Good Deals For Some Users

By Keith Richards

The newest iPhone is out and comes with some very attractive features, this brings up the question among some phone owners about whether there are iPhone 4 pay as you go plans and if they are good deals. Not every phone owner wants to be tied to a monthly contract and providers are recognizing this and offering pay as you go plans. It should be noted that the heavy or constant phone user may not find the prepaid plan options as good a deal but the infrequent or light user may well find them very useful.

The new iPhone comes with some nice extras and as time goes by they are announcing even more such as the ability to stream Netflix. Of course this uses a good deal of bandwidth and the heavy user may well want to avoid a pay per use plan if videos are what they plan on using their phone for. However, pay per use plans can be good deals for those who want no contract and whose phone use is only light or moderate.

Pay per use plans are also very useful for a phone user whose credit is poor. The more expensive phone rates are balanced out by the fact that they can have phone service even with poor credit. Prepaid phone plans are often more expensive than plans which require a contract with the carrier but they can help a phone owner also balance the budget and moderate their expenses as well as to change carriers without penalty.

To use some prepaid options an unlocked iPhone 4 is necessary. Apple provides unlocked versions of their phones and these will permit the user to put in the SIM card from the carrier of their choice. A phone purchased from a provider is normally locked and can only be used with that carrier, this is usually true whether the plan is pay as you go or monthly contract.

Carriers provide national coverage in most cases, in the US and UK there are several options for carriers who will provide service for the iPhone 4 on a pay a prepaid basis. Rates vary with the provider and the prospective customer would be wise to review their patterns of phone use prior to deciding on a carrier.

Purchasing an iPhone 4 may be a bit expensive since it has all the bells and whistles Apple can offer. An unlocked iPhone will normally cost more than one that is provided by the cell phone carrier. However, the owner of the unlocked phone knows they can change carriers at a whim if they feel service is unsatisfactory, provided they use a pay as you go option.

While a payment for what you use, or prepaid plan for an Apple iPhone may not be the choice for every user, it is an option that will be attractive for some. The best deals will be found by choosing plans which have the best rates based on the individual's phone use patterns. A person who uses a lot of data but makes few calls can benefit by choosing a plan with cheaper data rates and more expensive call rates.
