Following months of speculation, Sprint and HTC's Android 4G smart phone is at long last here. The HTC Wildfire 4G (first codenamed "Supersonic") has a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display equipped with multi touch and also operates HTC's modified Sense user interface through Android 2.1 mobile OS.

By using a very big display, the Wildfire will be well suited for viewing videos. Not only will it support many video codecs, it also provides HDMI output plus includes a kickstand regarding hands-free movie viewing.

The Wildfire 4G in addition is delivered with an 8-megapixel digicam with "HD-capable" video capture. Not surprisingly, this is driven with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, also seen on the HTC built Nexus one mobile.

Like the HTC Legend, Desire and HD2 Mini, the Wildfire 4G operates the refurbished Sense interface. Presented at Mobile World Congress, the new Sense UI gives some beneficial new capabilities for easy navigation including a fresh function known as Leap. Fundamentally, Leap is a sophisticated method of managing multitasking; it's actually a bit reminiscent of Palm's webOS deck of cards. Nip anywhere around the home screen, and you'll jump to seven thumbnail variants of your open pages. Coming from there, you can look at virtually any of those available applications or close up 1.

An additional fresh function is a brand new widget known as Friend Stream. It enables you to see your buddies updates, shared links, and photographs all in one smooth view.

Sprint claims the 4G network gives maximum download speeds way up to ten times faster when compared with 3G. Whilst Sprint has been talking about their WiMAX service (via the Clearwire system) for some years now, we have not witnessed very many WiMAX-enabled gadgets outside of notebook cards as well as modems. At CES, Sprint announced the Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot that should work with WiMAX networks, when available.
