Motorola Superphone Announced

By Chris Colin

If the Motorola superphone that their CEO, Sanjay Jha, revealed is planning to be released by the end of this year actually makes it to market, the 'smartphone' will be a thing of the past. I mean who will want smart when they could have super? So what is this Motorola superphone supposed to be able to offer that current smartphones won't have that will make it so much better? Let's take a look.

Motorola Superphone vs. Smartphones

For starters the Motorola superphone will have twice the power and processing capabilities as ANY modern smartphone, including the recent iPhone 4. It will be carrying a 2 gigahertz processing chip that really does double the 1 gigahertz chip that is in the top of the line smartphones currently. This could make a considerable difference for you in speed and ability to store and use programs efficiently.

Android's newest expected operating system(FROYO 2.2) should also be preinstalled on the Motorola superphone. It will also carry the Nvidia Tegra grapics chip which has Flash 10.1 hardware acceleration capabilities so you can watch Flash grapics and movies on your phone. You can't even do that with the iPhone 4.

The Motorola superphone will also try to keep up with competitors such as the Apple iPhone 4 by adding a built in gyroscope to allow the phone to be controlled on a full 6 axis functionality. This is probably most useful when gaming on your phone. Their will be programs and apps added to help you as well. Swype will be on to help make keyboard controls simpler. Blockbuster Video will also have a service available to rent or buy movies to download directly on your phone. Then you can just wirelessly tether it to a computer or t.v. because the new superphone will almost certainly have this now almost standard feature.

The Motorola superphone should be ready to purchase by the holiday season of 2010 according to projections, but no word has been made as to whether that will be Thanksgiving or Christmas time. No matter when it comes out, it at least gives everyone another phone to be excited about besides Apple's iPhone 4. Deterring buyers from the release of the iPhone 4 with the announcement of the upcoming superphone from Motorola may have been part of their plan, but I think it's safe to assume that we can start getting ready now.
