What You Might Not Know About Android Phones

By Clint Townson

The cell phone community has been in love with the Android OS since 2007. Since it first hit the scene it has been given lots of upgrades and updates. Today, the phones that run the Android operating system are giving the other, more traditional, smart phones quite a competition. The iPhone and the Blackberry are no longer the only recognizable smart phones on the mobile market. Since the Android phones are growing in popularity every day we decided to check out the system's history and learn a few things. Here are some factoids we learned about the Android operating system and the phones that use them.

I've used a number of different Android operating system devices. They have a great deal of apps like cell phone monitoring software and other nifty applications

Advertisers are more likely to advertise their wares on phones using the Android OS. You should not be surprised by this. The Google advertising network is huge and spreads all over the internet. Does it actually surprise you to learn that advertisers are hoping to be able to have the same level of reach on the mobile market? Google is famous for its advertising. You should not be surprised if your phone suddenly starts showing advertisements from time to time.

Believe it or not, the Android OS is based on the Linux OS. Linux is an open source operating system that people use instead of Windows or Mac OSes. There are lots of rumors to sort through about why Google wanted the OS so much. Everybody knows that Google and Microsoft are rivals. Is it any wonder that they would snap up a system that was based after one of the main challengers to the Windows system? A major benefit to using an open source system like Linux is that anybody can work on it and develop it further. This allows the company to keep their costs low and their profits sky high.

There are so many reasons to opt for the Android phones over their market competitors right now! Simply put: the Android OS is great! We admit that we're fans of the system but that doesn't mean that it isn't true! There are updates to the Android system released every day and, thanks to the open source status of the system, anybody can work on it, improve it and make it better. It won't be long before the Android phones are just as popular as their smart phone competitors. Pretty soon, Google phones will be at least as popular (if not more so) than other smart phones that are being sold.
