Why An iPhone Nano Will not Happen In The Near Future

By Fausto Mendez

When seen from a certain angle, the argument reduces down to Apple's philosophy of minimalism and simpleness, but it's more difficult when you investigate the business side of things. Apple's goal is to make cash, after all. The reality is that an entry-level iPhone doesn't fit within Apple's financial model. As we discussed above, Apple has a design philosophy and a business philosophy, and an iPhone Nano would conflict with both.

Though everyone will not confess, everybody loves simpleness. That could be a fact Apple has been milking since the introduction of the iMac after Steve Jobs's return to Apple. But Apple's idea of simpleness extends beyond product. If you consider it, buying Apple hardware is among the most convenient and minimalistic shopping experiences available. Apple wants to make the choice simple for you. You would like an iPhone, there's only 1 to select.

When there's only 1 iPhone to choose, it's much less expensive to produce that iPhone. The company buys parts and materials at bulk levels that no other company could, so it can achieve profit levels that exist only in the day dreams of other corporations.

Additionally , when there's only one iPhone to select, your "entry-level iPhone" is the prior generation iPhone. While most corporations don't know exactly what must be done with their older gadgets, Apple deductions its stock of older iPhones to pull new customers into the Apple ecosystem. This strategy also permits Apple to save its design team and resources for the next-generation iPhone and other products. Similarly, Apple doesn't have to do anything to get shot of those previous generation devices. No ads or marketing campaigns. They sell themselves.

Another benefit of this tactic is that clients with older iPhones feel really nice that their hardware is still useful and up to date if Apple is still selling it. Nothing hurts your wallet more than to grasp that your favorite device isn't going to be as useful anymore. Think how great that discomfort would be if the next-generation, entry-level iPhone put your premium iPhone 4S down like old yeller.
