Using Your Phone Without Taking Your Hands Off the Wheel

By Doug Black

Everywhere you look these days someone is on a cell phone, whether it is in the grocery store, walking, at a restaurant and most especially while driving the car. We are a very talkative nation, and we love our cell phones.

I could still recall the time when cell phones became available in the market. I had a friend back then, and the two of us had one each. Now outdated, the phones during that time were bulky. We lugged them everywhere, and talked to each other as often as we could, and though I hate to admit it, we did use them a lot while driving, just so we could use the phones! It was a worldwide craze, and we thought we were in! Well, look at the cell phone, now. They have certainly come a long way since that bulky, heavy bag phone, and they do just about everything except windows! Wherever I go, my cell phone goes with me. As a woman, it is dangerous to be on your own in the city these days that's when a cell phone comes very handy.

To be able to drive properly and securely, you need two hands to do that. Taking away one hand for your cell phone use is very risky. It's a risk that is not even necessary and can be avoided. As what the researchers at the University of Utah learned, it is the same as drunk driving. Cell phone use impairs one's mind, hand, and eyes while on the road. Cell phone usage in the cars are not one of our advocacies. Some of the states have intentions of making a law that forbids handling a cell phone while driving with no exclusions. Still, people will continue to handle their cell phones every time they are in their cars until the day comes that they will not be able to do that anymore because the law says so. Nevertheless, a hand's free device is a better option for handling your cell phone and you will be able to maneuver your car with your two hands. A California legislator passed a bill stating that phone users are required to use a hands free device when driving a vehicle. On the 1st day of July, 2008, the bill was enacted into a law. The bill prohibits driving and talking on the phone at the same time unless you have a hand's free gadget attached to your cell phone.

The Blue Tooth Headset that my husband have right now makes him very happy because it's been very handy for him while he's typing away in his computer all day. When my husband is dealing with a client about problems with his/her computer, he can be able to assist him/her through the computer as well as use his Blue Tooth Headset device at the same time that could take long hours. It is very difficult to do this holding a cell phone and type at once and is extremely uncomfortable and unhealthy to try to cradle the phone in between the neck and shoulders. Now, it's impossible to separate my husband from the hand's free device that I acquired for him several years ago.

Nerves in the neck will be constricted once you put a cell phone in the middle of your neck and shoulders. There will be soreness in the shoulders, neck, hands and arms that then becomes a headache as the end result. So that you won't be able to experience those aching body parts, try a hand's free device. The Blue Tooth Headset that I bought can be used with ease. It's trouble-free, it's wireless and even has good sound quality. Motorola offers many styles and shapes to fit the needs of everyone. It's speakerphone can even be attached on the visor of your car. You don't need a wireless headset for this one and it makes it legal for you talk and drive in the state of California.

When on the road, always follow rules and regulations. Observe safety when driving and bring a hand's free device if talking on the phone can't be avoided.
