Notable Photo Enhancing Applications of the Samsung Infuse

By Gareth Jale

Samsung's Infuse 4G is one of the most powerful smart phones to surface and it was highly touted before its release. Two great features of the phone separate the Infuse from its competition. The first feature would be the amazing display of the 4.5 inch Super AMOLED capacitive screen that's exclusively from Samsung. Samsung also has a wide range of accessories available to protect it, so choosing a case and a screen protector that lets you get the most out of it won't be an issue. The second incredible features is its 8-megapixel camera, which includes capabilities like an LED flash, multi shot, auto focus, digital zoom, ISO control, face and smile detection, a self-timer and a wide array of built-in effects.

The only thing limiting your photo capabilities on the Infuse are the lack of the right applications. One of the most powerful image editors is PicSay, which can be acquired for free. If you decide you want more, then you can easily upgrade to PicSay Pro. PicSay offers a nice basic menu that allows you to implement cool effects such as brightness, temperature, contrast, and more. It also has wide range of effects, such as icons and dialogue balloons, that you can use to decorate your photos.

The next application for image editing is Photoshop's mobile app. Photoshop is the granddaddy of all image-editing software and Photoshop.com Mobile is the closest you'll get on a smart phone. What distinguishes it from PicSay is that it has many more filters, effects and tools. It can be very hard to use at first so we prefer using PicSay for now. We have earlier mentioned PicSay Pro, but since Photoshop is free, we'd rather just pair the two applications together than pay for any upgrade.

Third on our list is FxCamera, which has a wide array of interesting effects that you won't find on PicSay or Photoshop.com Mobile or anywhere else as far as we know. This application is also free. Some of its best effects include Fisheye, ToyCam, Polandroid, SymmetriCam and Warhol. The only obstacle to FxCamera being a good application is that it doesn't have a lot of effects that you'll commonly use. Nonetheless, it's a nice application to have for any toolbox.

In closing, we'll do a roundup of some of other favorites. Vignette provides a range of film and flash-based effects, and it's like FxCamera in terms of how often it's used but it's not free. Camera ZOOM FX is a powerful suite of forty professional photo-editing tools. It only cost several dollars, so it's an excellent value, but the intricacy may be a little too high for the average user. And there's Snap Photo Pro, and it aims to replace and expand on most of the built-in camera features.
