Five Things You Can Now Do On The Move With Mobile Apps

By Sofia J. Ferguson

The popularity of smart phones has exploded massively over the last few years since they were first released. At the start, the iPhone was primarily seen as a fashion accessory, with the Blackberry and Android being seen more as phones for "techies". Fast forward to now and it is almost as normal to have a touch screen smart phone as it was to have a Nokia a few years back - everyone is now uploading. They are now very similar to a computer in your hand, with "apps" that you can download that will allow you to do various different tasks on the move that you just would not have been able to do in the past on the phone.

One of these things is email - you can keep in touch with your work email or personal email accounts, which is something that was unheard of only a couple of years ago. It means you are less likely to miss that important email in your personal life, stay in touch with people better and even lets you check your work email on that long, boring train ride so you can get stuck straight in when you get to work.

Along the same lines of keeping in touch, you can check your social networks like Facebook and Linked In on the move. While these are relatively new developments themselves, when they first came out you had to be on the computer to look and now you can be anywhere and input in those social plans or respond to that message from someone who is halfway round the world.

It is now even possible to check how much money you have left in your bank account when on the move, which means you can check when in the shop or on the train, without having to queue up for a cash point or go into the actual bank.

Another very novel feature smart phones has bought us is the ability to identify any music that is on just by holding the phone up. The app is called Shazam and is available on all the phones that have apps. In the past you would be in a bar, really like a song but not know what it's called, but now you just need to hold your phone up and it can tell you what it is, then store it in a list so you can buy it (and remember it!) the next day!
