What Am I Spending Money On? - Cell Phone Car Mount Review

By Tyler Russell

I remedied this by adjusting the joint so that the phone is already as far down as it can go and aimed at me. Doing that limits the places I can aim the phone, but I don't typically adjust it while driving so it's not that big of a deal.

But I did not like that it blocked part of the vent and also was not completely stable. I use the windshield and the dash mounts now on both cars. It loosens on its own over time or any bumps in the road. And the foam cushion that the phone sits on is already wearing away.

Was just what I was hoping it would be. Bought this for my Droid Incredible and I must say, this is indeed "INCREDIBLE".

I didn't see any reviews from people with the D2G, so, if you have one and are wondering. It works fine! It's hard, cheap, plastic, and just feels cheap. But at $15, the product IS cheap. So, I can say confidently that the windshield mount works great, but I can't say anything about the other two. I bought this mount and am honestly happy with it.

The vent mount swivels nicely to allow for a good viewing angle while attached to either the driver's side or passenger's side central vents of my cars. I have not tried the windshield mount. I like the adjustable design so that it works with my iPhone 4 in many different case designs. All the buttons and dock charger are available. I've contemplated switching to the window mount, but honestly, the vent mount suffices to stay out of my field of view and within reach if I need to adjust GPS without pulling the phone off the window. The cushions on the feet and arms are starting to show signs of continued compression, but I'm not particularly concerned yet.

I can't even read text off the screen when the car is in motion. I purchased this item because the HTC car mount for the Incredible won't hold a phone in a case and I liked all the different mounting options as I've never had a car mount before.

My Thunderbolt, being a semi-heavy phone, rather often will pull the mount off the vent if I go over a little bump, and the whole thing will fall off. If you look at the clips on other vent mounts, you can see they have hooks on the back that hold onto the vents to prevent this from happening.

The Arkon Universal mount is just the ticket. I pack this in my bag when I travel and quickly attach it to the windshield of my rental car -- no muss no fuss. I tested out the vent mount and it seems to hold nicely, but I'm not a fan of having it that low in my vehicle. Overall, it's a great product to have especially for those using their phones as GPS units. This dashboard phone holder worked just like I wanted it to. The adjustable grip is perfect for the Droid Incredible.
