IPhone Apps Are Like A Mini Computer

By Shelley Lindt

It has been less than three years since the iPhone from Apple was introduced to the market, yet it has really made a huge impact and has become one of the trendiest and "coolest" electronic devices to own. While it does the basics like sending texts and making calls, this phone does so much more. Many people think of these devices as mini computers because of all the powerful and interesting iPhone apps that can run on this cutting edge phone.

Many of the iPhone applications that are best known and add so much functionality to the smart phone are actually free iPhone software programs that are already installed and ready to use right out of the box. These apps provide a nice array of basic, but still powerful functions. You can do things such as watch YouTube videos, check stock market prices, manage your contact database, schedule your life, find your way with a compass, have an electronic notepad always in hand, play your favorite music play list, shop for new apps, and of course send email from any pop account.

But that is only the beginning of what the free iPhone apps offer the iPhone owner. You also have access to a fully functional internet browser, visual voicemail that lets you decide the order in which you listen to your messages, current weather conditions, a camera and photo management software, and interactive maps. There is also a tricked out clock application that includes multiple alarms, as well as stopwatch and timer functions.

One of the most popular categories of apps has to be the iPhone games. There are so many to choose from that you could spend days in the Apple App Store and still not have a chance to read about all of them. The best thing to do is look for the games that have the highest ratings from other users as a good place to start if you get lost. Many games are free, yet most will have a nominal fee of 99 cents or $1.99, making them affordable to most everyone who has an iPhone.

Most of the iPhone apps that you will find in the Apps Store are reasonably priced, with most under $5. You will also find some apps that are targeted specifically for business uses and some of these do command higher prices, but overall it appears that the strategy of the iPhone developers is to keep the prices low in order to sell more. Regardless of the type of additional functions you would like to get your iPhone to do, it is a pretty safe bet that you will find the apps you need and the associated iphone icons to add to your phone.
