Laptops - Most Common Mistakes That People Make

By Musa Aykac

A laptop is often an expensive purchase yet a lot of us don't treat it with much respect. This is why we often don't get a long life out of it and end up having to replace it long before we should have to. The following are some of the more common mistakes that are often made by people with laptops and hopefully you can avoid doing some of these yourself.

- A lot of people carry their laptop around from place to place without putting the computer to sleep. Doing this can cause data to be corrupted while you are on the move or it can damage the CD Rom drive so this should be avoided. The only thing required normally in order for you to put the computer to sleep is to close the lid so it is not exactly difficult.

- Some people go a long time without using their battery. If you don't use your battery it could end up going dead a lot quicker because it is similar to a muscle in that unless it is used it can be lost. What will probably happen is that one day when you want to use the battery, it won't work because you have not 'exercised it'. To avoid this best advice is to use the laptop on battery at least once week until it runs down.

- One of the really risky things that people do is not install anti-virus software. You might find that this won't be such a huge problem on an Apple laptop but when it comes to Windows, this is a big no-no. Without having a good anti-virus software program installed on your laptop, there is no way you are going to avoid malware or viruses when you are surfing the web.

- Another common mistake that people tend to make is failing to install the Windows updates. This is another bad idea and is likely to leave your computer open to all types of risks; especially if you plan to go on the web.

Memory cards are used in many products today. iphone accessories happen to be a great example of this also. Yet another that you can find widely available is the ipod accessories.
