LG Optimus 3D Android smartphone

It had not been too far back that the thought of a Phone weighing 200g and then computing 2cm thick looked realistic; it again was, after all, a mini-computer. We try to remember a associate at the time when the Nokia N90 Communicator was unveiled.

The LG Optimus 3-d is not really quite as thick or weighty. Its 12mm depth is similar to devices from rival HTC, but its 168g weight is noticeably more, and when you correspond to this weight with the 3D's 4.3-inch screen, this Smartphone seems gigantic. Its 4.3-inch display stretches across the face of this unit having a thin strip of touch-sensitive buttons beneath the display. There are micro-USB and micro-HDMI cable ports on the left-hand side of the unit - covered by those pesky plastic latches which only LG persists in making use of - and a standard 3.5mm headset socket on the top.

Those accustomed to LG's fashion-forward gadgets of the past won't recognise the serious-looking Optimus 3D. There is no colourful trim, ala the LG New Chocolate, neither any lashings of stainless steel, like we experienced on numerous LG handsets before. In lieu, the Optimus three dimensional is encased in a attractive yet dull grey-coloured, soft-touch plastic having strips of faux-metal running along the top and bottom from the face of this phone. The outcome is a polished appearance, yet it's definitely not eye-catching.

The 3D's Liquid crystal display is of a decent quality, indicating fine colour and a few reasonably deep black. Similarly to LG's previous Smartphone releases this year, this display screen favours whites over blacks, with net surfing coming up trumps with this equation. One appealing point that many of us found during our assessment is that this screen is nearly completely invisible when viewed through sunglasses with a polarising filter.

We're not sure if this has something related to the nature of its three-dimensional screen, but it's certainly a shame for anyone who works outdoors and puts on a decent set of sun shades.
