By Wiley Pantelakis

Crazed technophiles lined up, sometimes for days, outside electronic stores typically signals the release of a new iPhone. Now that tech junkies have happily purchased their new phones, many people have begun asking a new question. Is Siri the only difference between the iPhones? To answer this, look at the features of an iPhone 4 and compare them to the iPhone 4S.

A major selling point of the iPhone over other available technology is its retina display. Crammed into the average display size is over 4 times the mega-pixels. Brighter colors and sharper images are only a few benefits of the retina display.

Today's consumers demand their smart phones to be all in one devices; this means that picture quality on an iPhone is very important. For as expensive as the iPhone 3 was, the camera was not nearly of good enough quality to please consumers. The iPhone 4 has fixed this; users can take 4 mp photos and shoot high definition videos. The improvements to the camera and iPhone in general allow users to make video calls while connected to a wifi network.

The iPhone 4 has dropped weight and size in comparison to the iPhone 3. The lighter, more portable feel is a plus for this model. While a slimmer phone is a definite plus, some are concerned about the impact it will have on reception and repairs.

That being said, what makes the iPhone 4S different from the iPhone 4? The iPhone 4S has a processor that is much more powerful than that in the iPhone 4. This allows for more rapid processing speed. Siri is one of the most obvious differences between these models; she acts as a personal assistant. In addition to Siri, iPhone 4 owners can enjoy an 8MP camera instead of the 5 MP offered on the iPhone 4. Finally, iPhone 4S users will not have to worry about the reception issues of the iPhone4; a dual antenna remedies this.

Is the cost of upgrading to the iPhone 4S really worth it? The bottom line may be whether it is worth spending the extra on the iPhone 4S when making the move to Apple products. Is the iPhone 4S a necessity? If you're upgrading to a new smart phone, yes. The iPhone 4S is a powerful, sleek device that is readily available on a variety of services.

Is it worth upgrading if you already have the iPhone 4? The phones share a similar design. The screen size and resolution are the same on both models. There is no change in the amount of RAM between the models. A massive operating system update is the biggest change from iPhone4 to iPhone 4S. However, there is a free update patch for the iPhone 4 software that levels the playing field between the two.
