Know iPhone

By Cornell Reckers

Though the iPhone has been among the best phones for gaming since it's earliest models, there were certain limitations on graphics, game size, etc. due to the the fact that the iPhone's processor could not handle extremely intense games. Now, though, the introduction of the iPhone 4S and iOS 5 the iPhone is an even more powerful gaming vehicle than ever.

The iPhone's increased processing power has given game developers the unprecedented opportunity to design large, elaborate games for a smart phone platform. The remainder of this article will detail 5 games that all iPhone 4S owners should consider. Though some of these games are familiar favorites re-engineered for the new iPhone, some are entirely unique to the processing power of the iPhone 4S.

Infinity Blade 2: The previous Infinity Blade game was a smash hit on the iPhone. The second installment of the game dropped at Apple's iPhone 4S release event. It takes full advantage of the 4S's powerful processor to provide the gamer with top-notch graphics and an altogether more impressive experience. Infinity Blade 2 has been expanded from the original game, featuring a much larger in-game world and a multitude of new weaponry. Infinity Blade 2 arguably uses the iPhone 4S's improved functionality to the best advantage of any games specifically engineered for the phone.

Dead Space: While many horror titles seem to become far less intense on mobile platforms, Dead Space does not have this problem on the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 4S Dead Space developers, who also created the full-version of the game, were able to perfectly capture the terrifying moments that made the console version of Dead Space so popular. While it is decidedly not for those who shun violence and gore, Dead Space will satisfy the bloodlust of gamers who loved the original version of the game or simply enjoy a fright.

Angry Birds Rio: While this game isn't specifically engineered for the iPhone 4S's new processing power, it plays nicely on the platform and is a light-hearted, fun game. Every game in the Angry Birds series, including Angry Birds Rio, proves that even the simplest games can achieve smash success with iPhone users.

Machination: This computer game with something of a cult following is available on a mobile platform for the first time on the iPhone 4S. Machination provides the user with intensely elaborate graphics and an excellent soundtrack. Also, the iPhone's sensitive touchscreen is perfect for Machination's point-and-click gameplay style.

Grand Theft Auto 3: Most gamers presume that GTA 3 is best played on a larger screen, such as TV or computer. However, the iPhone 4S version of the game provides shockingly intense gameplay. GTA 3 effectively utilizes all of the iPhone 4S's processing power to provide users with a large, intricate in-game world; however, it is ONLY available on the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2 and does not run on other devices that support iOS 5.
