Blackberry Phones Still A Hot Selection

By Jason Hicks

Research in Motion (RIM) recently released a phone better than all other Blackberry phones. In August they released the Blackberry Torch for AT&T network. This phone has all of the normal strong points for the line but also added several great new features.

Top email integration and keyboard are two Blackberry phone strong points. Those things have helped keep Blackberry at the top of the smartphone market share for many years. There is now quite a bit of competition in that market with iPhone and various Android devices. The Blackberry Torch has RIM believing that it can keep many of the Blackberry users with the phone line but also sway some non-Blackberry users over as well.

Without a doubt Blackberry needed to upgrade their web browser. The past internet experience on their phone lines have been bad with all of today's technology showing up on other phones. With the acquisition of Torch Mobile that has all changed. The Blackberry Torch has a new WebKit browser installed in it that has updated the internet browsing to be up to par with virtually any phone on the market. Users can now surf the web faster, add webpage shortcuts to their home screen, use pinch zoom, text auto zoom, or use tabbed browsing.

The Torch is also the first Blackberry to use Blackberry Operating System 6. This operating system has upgraded the user interface significantly. Some of the upgrades include the web browser, updated graphics, improved touchscreen performance, Social Feed applications, and Universal Search.

The sliding keyboard is another feature new to the Torch. As already mentioned Blackberry keyboards are always known as a strong point for the phone line. They are always well spaced and responsive for the user and this keyboard is no different.

The updated 5 megapixel camera on the Blackberry Torch is the first they have put on one of their phones. This camera takes very good pictures overall and has several upgraded features. Some of the main features to be updated include face detection, geotagging, and continuous autofocus.

There are many upgrades over previous Blackberry Phones on the Blackberry Torch. The addition of a top notch web browser is the biggest upgrade and the one that was most anticipated. Other upgrades include the new operating system, responsive sliding keyboard, and a very nice camera.
