Increasing the Life of the BlackBerry Playbook Battery

By Gareth Jale

In order to help this tablet last as long as possible, the owner should consider turning it off when it is not in use. Some of those people who own tablets seem to prefer to keep their devices on at all times. Although this does save a few moments that would otherwise be needed to turn it back on and find a specific application, it is not good for the battery. The power that's needed to keep the tablet functioning shouldn't be drained unless it's being used.

A popular feature of both cell phones and tablets alike is what is called a back light. A back light allows the user to look through their electronic device in a dark setting. So if you plan on using your device when there's no light on, the back light will help you out. However, unless it is dark or abnormally bright, there are few reasons to have it on high. A back light that is left on for a long time can consume the life of the battery. That's why, if you tone down the back light, your battery should last longer.

Unless a certain feature is essential, users should definitely try to turn it off. For example, should they find that they are hardly ever on the Internet, yet the feature is always on, it can cause problems. They should disconnect from it as often as they can. Although the camera on the tablet cannot be left on, it still comes with its own set of problems; taking too many pictures can bring about the need to charge the tablet to use it again. So don't take picture whenever you want to. Just try to be selective.

This tablet should not be kept in a warm place. Leaving your tablet in the sun isn't going to make your tablet run any longer. It may seem harmless enough, as sometimes the owner cannot help where it ends up, but this is not something to make into a habit. It helps, at least externally, to protect the Playbook by looking into accessories such as a case or screen protector.

When the it is done charging, it should be unplugged from the socket providing the charge as soon as possible. Although a fully charged battery cannot be overcharged it is still not a good idea. It may become overheated from the extra energy, and this can cause damage, not only to the battery but other internal features as well. It should never be left plugged in overnight if it does not require much charging, no matter how harmless the move may seem to the owner. If they want to be responsible, they should keep this in mind.
