Find Who Contacted You With Reverse Lookup Of Cell Phone Numbers

By Martin Masterson

The number shown on caller ID does not look familiar, and the caller did not leave a voice mail. You sent in a resume about a great job, and it is possible someone from the firm is trying to reach you. Of course, it could also be the organizer for an upcoming reunion, determined to enlist you for the decorating committee again. You would really like to know who called before you call them back, because you like to be prepared. The easiest way to find out is by using reverse lookup.

There are many free sites on the Internet where you can find out the name associated with the phone number. If you just type in the words "reverse lookup" in your search window, a list of choices will appear. Select the one you wish to try and click on their link.

Once at the site, locate the proper line and enter the number, complete with its area code, you want to research. Any information found will be displayed. Normally, this consists of both the name and address shown for the account owner, but some sites only offer a name.

If no match is found, you might try entering it as a cell phone number. Some sites separate searches by land line and cell phone. Double check that you have entered the area code and phone number correctly.

If you still receive no match, there are several possibilities to consider. It may be a prepaid cell phone that does not require registration. Or it may be a land line belonging to a company, such as a collection agency, that has managed to block their information from the database.

There are other searches to be found at most sites offering reverse lookup. Some are free, but others charge a fee. For example, you can verify a name based on a social security number, or enter an address to see a list of residents. Many allow you to locate an email or phone number by entering a name. However, the sites remain most popular for finding out who owns a telephone account.
