My Family Loves This - Cell Phone Motorcycle Mount Review

By Sarah Perry

Works well with my Droid X. No problem having the power plugged in and the audio jack used at the same time.

I like the unit, but if I don't have it tilted up a bit, my phone will fall out. I loved this when I first got it and it worked very well. I ordered the mount for my HTC Thunderbolt with an extended battery (so it's thicker than normal). I was hoping to use the vent mount, but the vent mount is pretty poorly designed.

The release knob is should have been smoother. Weather mounting on windshield, dash or vent this unit does the job. Fan clip extension pointless for these heavy smartphones. Four days and the plastic clips are worn and flex open.

It's hard, cheap, plastic, and just feels cheap. But at $15, the product IS cheap. I tried my Garmin Nuvi 750 GPS in the mount as well, and even though that is a fairly large GPS, it fit perfectly; again not blocking the USB port or the on/off switch. Where I live it is still pretty cool in the morning, so I have not tried the vent mount, but it looks as though it should work pretty well.

But I have gotten it to work well enough. I used this on a vacation trip to hold my Samsung Vibrant and use it as a GPS navigation device. The windshield mount is excellent; it holds tight to the windshield or any other smooth, flat surface, and is a huge improvement over the original mount that came with my Tom Tom. The vent mount is OK. Really gives you tons of options how to mount: suction cup to windshield, suction to mount that they provide (can be stuck anywhere on your dash), and mounted to the air-vent with clamps. At first I tried the air vents but it didn't seem to be the sturdiest (and frankly was in the way of my turn signal.

I am not sure if mine was just defective, but unfortunately, the product can only be returned within the first 30 days, so I will not have a chance to try out another one. I would not waste your money on this product. I use the window mount and I have no problem. I chose this product because it was inexpensive.

The only thing I can't do when it is mounted is pull out the phone's keyboard and type while driving. But only a lunatic would try to do that anyway.

You can't pull it off unless you release the lever. I never used the dashboard mount because I don't have the real estate on my dashboard to place it.

You have to pull the lever behind the suction cup to induce suction. After the lever is pulled, the cup stays VERY firmly.
